The planning restrictions with the old barns meant that dividing the space into bedrooms was quite a challenge. The architect’s plans achieved this but the upstairs space felt really tight, which didn't feel appropriate for the target market price for the properties. On site visits we worked through layout options to ensure 3 bedrooms with a master ensuite were achieved. The beautiful old beams were left exposed but building them into the design also created a challenge.
Eventually we amended architect’s drawings to introduce a glazed balustrade to the landing, bringing an illusion of space and opening up an impressive stairwell and landing.
