UK Interior Awards Shortlist

Making the shortlist

UK Interior Awards 2018

UK Interior Awards Shortlist

I awoke on 1st June to the unexpected news that I’d made the final three in this year’s UK Interior Awards in the category Most Creative Interior. There was some really amazing competition so to say I was shocked is an understatement. Clearly, I’d bribed all of my family and friends and done the obvious of voting for myself, but never thought for a moment other people might actually vote for me.

It’s my first few months of launching into a freelance styling role, I decided to take the big leap into the world of the unknown after the end of my 2nd maternity leave from a desk based marketing job. One I loved but wanted and needed more from but with the flexibility of self-employment. SO I made the leap, and I’m spending my time building a social network, launching the website and blog (which you’re now reading), getting reacquainted with the google tools and generally getting to grips with starting out. Each day brings new opportunities, and I’m excited about several bits and bobs which are on the cusp of coming to fruition. Watch this space.

So for me, this news was another gentle push of encouragement that so many of us need when we start out on our own. And of course it all makes great PR, which is so important for a new business.

The UK Interior Awards launched in 2017 to recognise homeowners with an eye for style in their interiors. A concept created by Caroline Rowland, founding editor of 91 Magazine, Pippa Jameson a fully fledged stylist and TV personality and Anna Hayman an eclectic home designer stocked in Liberty and Rocket St George (one of my all time favourite online interior stores). When nominations opened back in February I thought ‘why not?!’ but never expected it to come to anything. I’d submitted a handful of photos and thought that would be the last I heard of it – but here we are, I’m awaiting the delivery of more information on the awards night, and if anything, I just can’t wait to meet more of the shortlisted nominees – more interior addicts to chat the evening away with. I just have no idea how you’re going to choose the location with all these creative eyes watching!
